Stained Glass Courses |
|
I believe
that artists and craftspeople in addition to their own work can help to
awaken all sorts of people to their own
creativity by sharing their skills.

Arbol de Luz Studio in Alozaina, Spain
Rod Friend runs two kinds of glass Courses:
1.
A two-day or weekend Course in Glass Mosaic. This is quite 'portable'
so I can visit other Centres where people gather. These Courses
are run for a minimum of 6 people and a maximum of 14. Each participant
will complete the Course with a panel of finished, grouted glass
mosaic that they themselves have designed and made. |
|
This
is a simple technique of selecting and bonding fragments of coloured
glass to a sheet glass base and subsequently grouting the finished
surface (as with bathroom tiles). This process gives the student
a
quick and satisfying experience in architectural glass. |
2.
The second kind of Course is in Glass
Painting using medieval techniques to paint, stain and fire mouth-blown
glass, plus acid-etching and working with lead, designing and developing
ideas. |
|
Each
student leaves with a leaded panel that he or
she has made to his
or her own original design.
This
second Course requires four consecutive days. |
Each
Course enables the student to start
designing and making stained glass on their
own.
